  • Platforms transition leadership from traditional decision-making to acting as an interface for a centralized infrastructure. It turns corporate governance into a platformized asset, where strategic intuition is subsumed into capital-fixed software.

  • Access to high-level AI-powered platforms for a fraction of the labour cost is a sophisticated form of data mining. By integrating AI into executive workflows, the provider captures high-value metadata and strategic intelligence flows. In this framework, executives become the ultimate high-level click workers, refining models with the world’s most expensive operational data.

  • Platforms and AI agents come with a loss of sovereignty and the extraction of value under the guise of fees. Corporate activities will be intermediated by platforms that control access to, control over, and production of resources.

  • You must also distinguish between an AI agent’s use value, or perceived helpfulness, and its exchange value, which reflects how it captures and commodifies human intelligence for profit.


The Digital Gosplan and The Advent of AI Communism

We are moving from a market logic (where labour is a commodity) to a fief logic (where labour is a mandatory contribution to the infrastructure), and the C-suite is caught in a prisoner’s dilemma, racing to surrender their sovereignty to a few Cloud owners. Agentic systems are the enforcement arm of this new platform economy. Within these platforms, the "invisible hand" is dead, replaced by a digital Gosplan, i.e., central planners harvesting raw data to invisibilize dissent, suppress organic reach, and "attack" any labour or business model, as corporations are being enclosed into a rent-seeking machine.

In this platformization process, the latest AI developments allow renting a worker to an AI while the C-suite goes fractional. Rent A Human offers a "human-as-a-service" layer for agents, where a paid human executes tasks in the physical world based on a model's decisions. This isn't new—Uber and DoorDash already route human labor algorithmically. What's new is the interface and the unsettling framing: the "boss" is now a non-human with a wallet issuing instructions through a marketplace.

This trend highlights the current limitations of AI, which still depends heavily on human labour. You must focus on platformizing your company rather than on AI itself. The gap between agency and work is leading to a new form of algorithmic feudalism where the algorithm acts as a digital landowner, managing human workers to optimize data. But the main risk is that AI could serve as an offshore human resources manager without legal oversight, automating the exploitation of physical labour.


The Subjectivity Problem in Planned Economies

AI agents making corporate decisions reveal the same limitations that plagued communist planned economies: a reliance on objective metrics while overlooking the subjective factors that influence economic outcomes, which contributes to the failure of such systems. In contrast, free-market prices reflect both objective and subjective values. For instance, a product like Labubu can succeed and generate profits in a free market because individuals assign value based on personal preferences, even if the product lacks clear practical utility. Such products would likely not emerge in a centrally planned economy.

While robots and algorithms process data efficiently and make rapid decisions, they cannot interpret emotional cues or experience emotions. This is like sociopathic individuals who understand perspectives but lack empathy, which can lead to manipulative behaviour. If you implement customer-facing AI agents, the risk is of developing a psychopathic frontline in which AI agents interact to manipulate and extract value at any cost.


The C-suite and the Algorithmic Supervisor Model

The bottom line

This form of AI communism creates new political frictions between the C-suite and AI vendors. Although the “human in the loop” perspective is well-intentioned, it does not fully align with current realities. As platforms spread, human involvement will be limited to supervising operations and will have minimal ability to intervene. Human oversight may be reduced to signalling when issues arise.

The 'Human in the Loop' is a temporary measure, but as profit models shift towards platforms, even the C-suite faces the challenge of paying for access while providing the labour that trains replacements. Meanwhile, C-suite leaders are no longer just 'consumers'; they are prosumers producing their own service through data labour.


Conclusion

The emergence of AI communism represents the ultimate paradox of neoliberalism: a competitive race that ends in the death of the free market and the rise of the platform as a digital Gosplan. In this new "fief logic," the C-suite is no longer a set of traditional consumers but prosumers, forced to provide the very cognitive labour and strategic data that train their own replacements while paying "toll fees" to access the infrastructure they help build. As platforms commodify human intelligence through extractive labour, the traditional value proposition is replaced by continuous behavioural rent. Ultimately, this structural shift toward techno-feudalism renders traditional antitrust laws ineffective, requiring corporations to move beyond ideological narratives to navigate the material reality of a world where platforms, not markets, control access to resources.
